Ever since the first time I saw our house, I've been itching to rip off the white aluminum awnings that hung over the entire wraparound porch. They were dated and filthy and kept much-needed sunlight out of the downstairs. Today I finally got to see it happen, and I'm so happy they're gone.

I also ripped off the old aluminum storm door but as you can see in the photo, it never made it off the front porch. The whole thing is looking so much more alive already. Unfortunately, this whole process exposed some serious rot in the roof of the porch. We already knew it was there, but it's depressing to see it from the street.
