More kitchen progress

I made a long list at the beginning of April titled "APRIL KITCHEN TOUCHUP".

The idea was that by doing a small thing every day I would finish the kitchen. Well, it's April 23rd and the list is not even half done so I'm thinking I should change the title to APRIL/MAY KITCHEN TOUCHUP.

The small list items I have done so far have included taking off the last of the old wallpaper, refinishing the plaster, and priming it with Killz Cover All primer. The old plaster wasn't made to be painted with modern paint, so unless you use some heavy duty primer, the paint will come right off.

Since I've spent all this time staring at the walls, my plan for the kitchen has changed. Originally the kitchen was going to be painted in Valspar's Frappe:
But I really don't think that would give the kitchen enough character. So I've decided to put up a high chair rail and put beadboard under it and paint it the same Swiss Coffee white to match the cabinets. It's just going to take a little longer than I had imagined to whip this kitchen into shape.

In the meantime I am trying to keep chipping away at the list. For today's item I dug out the two long-lost molding toppers for the window and the door and reattached them, primed them, and patched cracks.
yesterday, no toppers
Today, the toppers are back. Yay!
